Acquisition by Ferro steps up expansion of technical and capital infrastructure.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1999<\/strong><br \/>New multi-purpose commercial scale High Potency Substance (HPS) manufacturing facility \u00a0constructed.\u00a0Optimized for product isolation\/containment and centralized process control, the facility expands Pfanstiehl\u2019s capabilities for processing toxic and cytotoxic APIs and intermediates.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1977<\/strong><br \/>Pfanstiehl partners with Abbott Laboratories to develop a process for producing egg yolk phospholipid (egg lecithin) for use in a parenteral nutrition formulation.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1973<\/strong><br \/>Pfanstiehl establishes its first Type II Drug Master File\u00a0with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a pharmaceutical client<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1962<\/strong><br \/>Pfanstiehl begins producing sodium lactate solutions and Glucosamine hydrochloride, marking entry into production of pharmaceutical compounds and intermediates.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1959<\/strong><br \/>Pfanstiel significantly expands capacity and capabilities\u00a0by moving to its current address in Waukegan, IL. The original building occupied on Glen Rock Avenue continues to house Pfanstiehl fine chemical production.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1954<\/strong><br \/>Babson sells fine chemical division to Arthur Holstein\u00a0and carbohydrate chemist Dr. Waldersee Hendrey, who then name their company Pfanstiehl Laboratories, Inc. Pfanstiehl begins producing fine chemicals in larger volumes and begins supplying biochemicals in bulk to catalog resellers.\u00a0Product focus shifts towards carbohydrates and related organic chemicals.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1947<\/strong><br \/>Arthur G. Holstein, chemist and holder of five biochemical processing patents\u00a0joins Pfanstiehl, managing the fine chemical division.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1942<\/strong><br \/>Pfanstiehl Chemical becomes a subsidiary of Babson, operating three separate divisions: fine chemicals, metallurgical products, and dairy sanitation products.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1930<\/strong><br \/>Babson Brothers, Inc., a Chicago-area manufacturer and distributor of dairy industry supplies, joins Pfanstiehl, assisting with financial and management support. The Special Chemicals Company is renamed Pfanstiehl Chemical Corporation and relocates to Waukegan, Illinois.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>1919<\/strong><br \/>With the help of U.S. government seed money, the Special Chemicals Corporation is founded by\u00a0Carl Pfanstiehl in the stable behind his home.
